ToccataTouch is inspired by an installation, called Toccata, developed for the Benetton Live Windows project, a large scale video wall hosting interactive and video content provided by Fabrica. A digital textile reacts to user touches and accelerometer variations inside an environment developed using a two-dimensional physical engine. This environment is overlayed on top of the camera stream in order to show the contrast between the physical environment behind the iPad and the environment mathematically created through the physical engine. The shape of the textile affects an arpeggio of generative synthesized sounds creating an immersive audio visual experience.

The application has been developed using openframeworks and Box2d, a two dimensional physics simulator engine. The 3d effect is just an illusion created by connecting particles as well as overlaying transparency.
