PENDULUMS is made of twenty pendulums reminiscent of those used in a Newton’s Cradle. Their arrangement is orchestrated to allow for complex collisions to produce randomized melodies. These melodies evoke the natural qualities of the Alcantara texture through harmonics and pleasing chords. As the pendulums collide they cause lights above to illuminate conveying the precision of highly technical elements working together.
The exhibition, fruit of a collaboration between ALCANTARA and MAXXI-The National Museum of 21st Century Arts, wants to investigate the sensoriality of the material.
